1. Data Collection and Usage

The extension collects and stores reading-related details to provide its core functionality. Specifically:

• Reading Progress: Chapter numbers, progress percentage, and timestamps of works read on Archive of Our Own.
• Want to Read Queue: A list of bookmarked works marked for later reading.
• Highlights and Notes: Excerpts of text you select and notes you write for reference.
• Settings: User preferences, custom marker colors, and display options.

All of this data is stored locally in your browser's local storage or extension-specific storage API.

2. No Server-Side Storage

We do not collect, share, or sell your reading history, personal information, or statistics. There are no central servers running this extension. We cannot access your bookmarks or notes.

3. Google Drive Synchronization (Optional)

To enable cross-device backup and synchronization, you may optionally choose to connect your Google Drive account. If enabled:

• Limited Scope: The extension requests permissions for the drive.appdata scope. This is a secure, isolated folder reserved exclusively for this extension.
• Access Limitations: AO3 Advanced Marker cannot read, write, modify, or delete any other files or folders in your Google Drive. It is restricted strictly to its own settings and history backup files.
• Direct Connection: Synchronization occurs directly between your browser extension and the Google API. No third-party servers or middleware intercept this connection.

4. Account Credentials & Security

The extension does not request or store sensitive credentials. When connecting to Google Drive, authentication is conducted securely via OAuth 2.0 PKCE. Access tokens are kept within the extension's local, sandboxed environment.

5. Compliance with Google API Limited Use Policy

AO3 Advanced Marker's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer this data to any external parties under any circumstances.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page and reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
