Terms of Service

Welcome to AO3 Advanced Marker. By installing or using our browser extension and associated services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

AO3 Advanced Marker is a browser extension designed to help users track their reading progress, manage reading goals, and maintain a hybrid notebook for both fanfictions and traditional books.

2. No Affiliation

AO3 Advanced Marker is an independent, third-party tool developed by fans, for fans. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Archive of Our Own (AO3), the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW), or any other platform.

3. Subscriptions and Payments (PRO Version)

The Service is offered on a freemium model. Certain advanced features are locked behind a "PRO" version.

• Payment Processing: All transactions, tax collection, and license key generation for the PRO version are securely handled by our Merchant of Record, Gumroad.
• Refunds: Refund policies are governed by the standard terms provided at the point of sale on our Gumroad storefront.
• License Usage: A PRO license is for personal use only and may not be shared, resold, or redistributed.

4. User Data and Cloud Sync

• Local Storage: The Service primarily calculates and stores your reading data locally within your browser.
• Google Drive Integration: If you choose to enable the Cloud Sync feature, the Service will request OAuth2 authentication to backup and restore your data directly to a private folder in your personal Google Drive.
• Data Loss: You are solely responsible for maintaining your backups. We are not responsible for any loss of reading history, reviews, or data resulting from browser uninstallation, accidental deletion, or Google Drive service interruptions.

5. Intellectual Property

The code, design, logos, and UI elements of AO3 Advanced Marker are the intellectual property of its developer. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or distribute modified versions of the Service without explicit permission.

6. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the extension or inability to use the extension.

7. Changes to the Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated through extension update notes or our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitute your acceptance of the revised Terms.
